DeciSupport is a spin-off of the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED) created in October 2020 by four lecturers. It offers training and consulting on artificial intelligence and decision analysis, including cost-effectiveness analysis, especially in medicine, although the techniques used are applicable to other areas.
This research group has more than 30 years of experience in the application of artificial intelligence to medicine. In addition to using well-known probabilistic graphical models, such as Bayesian networks and influence diagrams, they have developed new types of models and several algorithms with which it is possible to solve problems that far exceed the capabilities of traditional methods. The result of their research is the open-source tool OpenMarkov, which has already been used in more than 30 countries, including several of the most prestigious universities in Europe and North America, some research centers of the United States government, and numerous students, many of them from developing countries. This tool allows building models for complex problems using an intuitive graphical user interface, without having to write any code. Using this tool, UNED researchers have addressed numerous medical problems, including several cost-effectiveness analyses.
The company obtained the Banco Santander “Seed capital” first prize at the 6th UNED Programme for Start-up Creation, as well as an award from Écija Consulting, a firm specializing in digital economy.
